Task Based Learning to Enhance the Oral Production: Study Case Chimborazo


Abstract:

This research aimed to analyze the relationship between Task Based Learning and the English-speaking skill. This study primarily utilizes an experimental research study. The research was conducted for two months, 6 hours a week. It employed a speaking pre-test and post-test as instruments in order to assess the effectiveness of the implementation of TBL to enhance the English-speaking skill. The population consisted of one hundred forty A2 students who belong to the Language Center of Administrative and Political Science Faculty at Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo. To evaluate the efficacy of this study a rubric was used with the purpose of providing a more detailed evaluation of students’ performance. To verify the hypothesis of this research, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test was used to measure the sample data and the Wilcoxon Test was used to get the sample results. They show that Task- Based Learning (TBL) fosters the English-speaking skill. It is concluded that students had a significant improvement in their oral production after the implementation of tasks based on TBL..
