Teaching-learning of english in health training: Variables of interest


Abstract:

Introduction: The acquisition of communicative skills in the English language has become a key factor for the training of professionals in any branch of science. Especially in careers related to the health sector, it is a premise in training in connection with other university processes, especially scientific research. Objective: The objective of the research was to determine the variables of greatest interest in relation to the teaching-learning process of the English language as part of the training of health professionals. Methods: The method of structural analysis was applied, with the participation of seven international experts, who issued criteria about the influence relationships between five variables identified after the theoretical analysis. Results: "Labor demands" were recognized as the most motive variable of the study, with a strong influence on "teaching strategies". The rest of variables resulted with a low influence and high dependence on the rest. Conclusions: It was recognized the need, that in order to achieve an effective teaching-learning process of English in careers related to the health sector, aspects such as curricular design, the use of information technologies and communications, and the interdisciplinary and interprocess approach.
