Technological devices for enhancing active learning

Abstract:

University faces the challenge posed by society itself with the incorporation of new technologies in training systems. In this sense, the use in the classroom of technological tools offers new opportunities within the educational process. They are innovative educational resources that the teacher can use to facilitate a change in behavior in within the teaching-learning process of student; increasing motivation, favoring a more fluid student-teacher communication, and promoting the responsibility and active participation of students. Taking considerations into account these, we illustrate the application of a technological procedure used to evaluate university students in the classroom with an active methodological system named Plickers, which allowed us to analyze the knowledge that the student is acquiring, in an attractive, agile and dynamic fashion. One of the great advantages of this application is that the student does not need any type of device, not even a computer; only the teacher will have a portable device, either a smartphone or a tablet. Plickers works with both iOS and Android operating system.
