Temporal coherence of a Brillouin fiber laser

Abstract:

The linewidth narrowing observed in Brillouin lasers is studied within the framework of the usual three-wave model of stimulated Brillouin scattering. We derive a simple analytical relation connecting the linewidth of the pump laser to that of the Brillouin laser. An experiment is then performed to verify the theoretical pbkp_rediction.
