Teniasis complex-cysticercosis, a latent zoonosis in public health

Abstract:

Parasitic diseases have become a great challenge for public health worldwide. The Teniasis-Cysticercosis complex effects on a large scale the countries of Latin America, Africa and Asia, characteristic of rural areas with insufficient sanitary condi-tions and socioeconomic deficiencies. The objective of this research was to establish the main aspects of the affectations caused by the Teniasis-Cysticercosis complex due to the level of incidence of the disease and the lack of knowledge on the part of the population. A review of articles published in Spanish and English in indexed journals such as Elsevier, Scielo, Pubmed and Scimago was carried out. There are antiparasitic drug options and the combination of these with others, which are effective and safe to treat the disease. However, it is necessary to do more studies on its diagnosis, prevention, education and control.
