Abstract:

A study of corrosion inhibitor performance in gas wells producing water carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide, found common techniques for determining tubular corrosion give significantly different results. These differences are attributed to corrosion layers and experimental limitations. This article describes these studies. They examined the corrosion measurement differences found with weight loss and linear polarisation resistance techniques using bare and pre-corroded surfaces.
