Textile sector supply chain: Comprehensive indicator for performance evaluation
Abstract:
In Latin American countries, small and medium-sized companies face enormous challenges, such as inserting themselves into supply chains. Even so, in these there are other limitations, the informal registration of management information and the lack of historical data in these companies affect empirical decision-making in relation to planning and management control. Under these conditions, the objective of the research is to develop a comprehensive indicator for evaluating the performance of medium and small companies that make up the textile supply chain in Ecuador, which encourages decision-making for their sustainability. A procedure was designed, and the tools of: collection of information from the literature, the expert method, Fuller’s triangle, and simulation are used to identify the ranges of the metrics (methodological contribution). As a result, the integral indicator of the supply chain of t-shirts in northern Ecuador was defined. It is evaluated as Regular, determined mainly by the process cost indicator. It is concluded that the greatest opportunities for improvement are concentrated in the latter, a practical contribution of this research. In addition, the applicability of the procedure designed in the chain under study was demonstrated.
