Abstract:
After reviewing some research it has been found that in the Ecuador there is no inquiry about what role the school text plays and how teachers use it; for this reason, this research was conducted on the use of the text School of Language and Literature of the third year of Basic General Education in the Educational Unit “San José - La Salle”. The problem was that it was hypothesized that the school text had ceased to be a resource, becoming the curriculum that should be developed during aulic practices, obtaining from it what should be taught, when to do it and how to evaluate, inducing the teacher to use it permanent, without using other materials that help you develop the planned theme differently. To carry out this research, first, the school text of Language and Literature was analyzed in detail; secondly, a participant observation was made to the subjects of the assigned classroom, interviews with the teachers of third year of Basic General Education and surveys directed to the directors of the institution, using instruments such as: field diary and questionnaire. The data collected contributed to obtaining several findings such as: that in the educational center where the study was conducted, the text has not become the curriculum and that the teacher does not see it as a limitation, since the book is considered a support that It makes it easier for the teacher to give a better class.
