The Amazonian city

Abstract:

This section proposes a reflection on some Amazonian spatial phenomena, that are investigated through the lens of the decolonial thought with the aim to critically question some dominant paradigms and devices of knowledge linked to the persistence of colonial forms of urban and territorial planning. In particular, a reasoning is proposed around forms of interaction and conflict among spatial production processes, economies, ecologies, by recalling figures such as Aníbal Quijano, Gloria Anzaldúa, Walter Mignolo and Maria Lugones. Six essays try to trace some research paths about design strategies of coexistence between ‘differences’, exploring the limits and possibilities of a decolonial conception of urban planning.
