The Decythidaceae of a central Amazonian moist forest

Abstract:

Reports on the taxonomy of the 39 species of the Brazil nut family found in a 1000 ha reserve. Descriptions, keys, habitat preferences, phenology, uses, pollinators and dispersal agents, and distribution are included for all species. An illustration of at least one species in each genus is given, with discussion of features useful in distinguishing central Amazonian species of Lecythidaceae. Most taxa in this family at Reserve 1501 are associated with terra firme because this is the predominant habitat of the reserve, but Allantoma lineata is restricted to wetter habitat alongside streams. -P.J.Jarvis
