The Denomination of origin for cocoa arriba. In search of the Holy Grail

Abstract:

This paper aims to show that the Denomination of Origin -DO- for cocoa above, will improve the competitive advantages of Ecuadorian cacao and have a negotiation tool in the European market. The methodology used was descriptive, and information was used from public and private actors involved in the subject. It was concluded that Ecuador meets all the conditions to register the cacao with DO, but it requires the political will of the State and the actors.
