The Ecuadorian business sector in front of the Agenda 2030: Challenges and opportunities


Abstract:

This article provides information on the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), considered as the new multisectoral global plan that integrates the economic, social and environmental dimensions; it also shows the relationship with the United Nations Global Compact; the key role of the business sector; Some factors for its alignment and implementation and exploration of business management strategies concerning corporate sustainability and social responsibility. For this purpose, a review and documentary analysis was carried out, in-depth interviews with business representatives of the Ecuador Global Compact. Among the main conclusions in the field of CSR we are at the beginning of a new moment, there is a recognition of the public-private articulation as a determining factor; and the need for innovative business models with a positive impact in favor of sustainability and actions that promote it.
