The Outcome of Multibacillary Patients infected with Mycobacterium leprae treated with Multidrug Therapy associated with the Biotherapic Tuberculinum 30 CH

The multidrug therapy is the main strategy to break the chain of transmission of Mycobacterium leprae. The WHO created a Program of Traditional Medicine, in order to formulate policies on traditional and complementary medicine and has expressed its commitment to encourage in the endemic countries, the use of homeopathy in national health care systems and to develop scientific studies to better understand this therapy. In Brazil, the Ministry of Health approved the National Policy on Integrative and Complementary Practices as homeopathy, in the Unified Health System. In order to evaluate the effects of homeopathy in the treatment of leprosy the clinical response of multibacillary individuals infected with Mycobacterium leprae, undergoing treatment with biotherapic Tuberculinum 30 CH, obtained from Mycobacterium tuberculosis culture, considered a biotherapic Codex, was evaluated as an adjunct in the conventional therapy and compared with the response of multibacillary individuals submitted to the conventional regimen only.
