The SAR-CBC Project: SAR Capacity Building for Decision Making Communities in Central and South America

Abstract:

Despite its proven capabilities and the increasing availability of regularly-sampled free-and-open data, the uptake of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) resources to inform decision-making situations has remained slow. This has largely been due to the unfamiliar appearance and large data volumes associated with this data type. The NASA-funded SAR Capacity Building Center (SAR-CBC) project has been addressing this issue by developing educational materials as well as webinars and on-site trainings that build capacity to use SAR in decision-making situations.
