The approximate solution of defining equations for generalized turning points


Abstract:

A set of defining equations for turning points is shown to produce a test function that can be computed iteratively to "double" accuracy. An inexact Newton method is then derived that gives a method for the efficient calculation of turning points. Applications are given to discretized boundary value problems using conjugate gradients.
