The complementary marriage on the equator. An extension of rights, based on the recognition of equal marriage
Abstract:
The evolution of the concept of marriage since the beginnings of society has focused on how to legally protect the core of society, however, the evolution of human rights has allowed for the extension of the concept of marriage to an open model that now includes same-sex couples. The conditions that led to the recognition of this extension of the concept are based on the union of two people, who cannot be discriminated against under any circumstances, not even by a legal concept. The aim was to demonstrate that the Constitutional Court ruling recognizing equal marriage leaves the possibility in the future of recognizing other modalities such as that which may exist in complementary marriage, which is embodied in the acceptance that a married person may simultaneously form another family in the same circumstances of mutual aid and cohabitation that exist in traditional marriage, In this context, a survey was carried out to see how Babahoyo citizens perceive the acceptance of complementary marriage in the same way as the union of same-sex couples has been legalized, and it was determined that although 69% recognize the existence of persons with two households, 44% do not accept that it be legally recognized with the same rights as homosexual marriage.
