The configuration of combat sports contents in school Physical Education: Analysis of Spanish and Brazilian contexts
Abstract:
The objective of this study is to understand the differences and similarities regarding the effectiveness of the content combat sports in Physical Education classes in Spain and Brazil, in a comparative perspective. For this purpose, the main laws that regulate school curricula in both countries were analyzed - the Royal Decree, in Spain, and the National Common Curricular Base, in Brazil. In addition to this documentary analysis, some studies related to the subject were analyzed.The objective of these studies was to verify compliance with legal regulations regarding the content of combat sports in schools.We concluded that there are, in both countries, solid laws recommending the teaching of combat sports in Physical Education classes. However, some studies point to the fact that this content is rarely present in Physical Education classes, due to some restrictive factors, such as: lack of structure, incapacity of teachers, association with violence.
