The economic exiled. The new Spanish emigration to Mexico

Abstract:

The article analyzes the Spanish emigration to Mexico between 2008 and 2014, with the proposal of defining the profile of the new Spanish emigrants to Mexico, knowing the causes of their migration, identifying initial problems of migration process, identifying the conditions of their current situation and meeting their future expectations. We use a mixed quantitative and qualitative methodological strategy, combining first and second order research. We have concluded that these emigrants are highly skilled young people, expelled from Spain by the crisis and attracted to Mexico by the opportunities to gain work experience; they found a migratory network of ancient Spanish emigrants and occupy vacant jobs that Mexican professional emigrants leave; they have not encountered any particular difficulties in their migration process, are satisfied with their experience and the ideas of staying in Mexico or re-emigrating predominates between their expectations.
