The incidence of using Web-quests on the teaching-learning process of English foreign language ( EFL ) for students attending the seventh year of Basic Education at República de Panamá School, 2010-2011 school year
Abstract:
The public schools generally teach the English Language through traditional strategies which are the possible causes of students' deficient level of knowledge as well as the lack of motivation, among others. Republica de Panama School is a clear case of this situation, because its students do not have a good competence of the target language and need new strategies that influence on the students learning more effectively. Therefore, this research looks for demonstrating that WebQuests might be valuable and alternative strategies to be used in the teaching-learning of the English Foreign Language (EFL) in order to motivate students and improve their competence. To analyze the overall context of this theme, the thesis is structured in chapters: Chapter One is about the Problem Identification of the school, Variables, Objectives, and Justification of the research. Chapter II refers to the Theoretical Frame, the Teaching-Learning Process of EFL, WebQuests, and the relation between these two variables. Chapter III has to do with the Methodological Design of the Investigation. Chapter IV includes the part of Testing the Hypothesis which leads us to the conclusion that WebQuests do have a positive incidence in the Teaching-Learning Process of EFL of the students attending the Seventh Year Basic Education at Republica de Panama School. Finally, Chapter V refers to the Proposal of a Sample Guide for the Development and Implementation of the WebQuest Strategy in the EFL Curriculum of this school.
