The principles of simplification, vulgarization and orchestration in the audiovisual propaganda discourse of rafael correa

Abstract:

This research is based on the theory and practice of the 11 principles of political propaganda. According to those guidelines, a set of audiovisual short films, produced during the last semester of Rafael Correa’s government in Ecuador, was reviewed to determine if its content and technical composition are related to them and, if so, the form and frequency in which they are applied. With the help of content and discourse analysis, it was found that the mechanisms associated with three out of the eleven principles are more recurrent than the others, and that they also demonstrate and summarize the strengths and weaknesses of the communication activity carried out during the ten years of the Citizen Revolution.
