The species Cenchruspurpureus an alternative for the production of forage

Abstract:

The species Cenchrus purpureus, it is considered of great importance in the tropic by his aptitude to produce biomass. For it, the aims of the present work are to offer information of the performance and the quality of this species in the tropic, emphatically in the Ecuador and his relation with the elements of the climate. It is characterized the forage production, contents of dry matter, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber; as well as structural carbohydrates and phenolic compounds, and their relation to the age of regrowth. Similarly, we provide information on the dependence of the variables mentioned above with the elements of the climate, estimated by means of mathematical models, which is a working objective of teachers and researchers today. It was concluded that this plant presents a wide ecological plasticity demonstrated in its adaptation, yield and quality in different regions of the tropics, although these vary in dependence of the existing climatic conditions.
