The teacher as manager of relational capital: A review


Abstract:

The relational capital is considered as one of the three fundamental cores of the intellectual capital, and also as a competitive advantage for the organizations. The interest in this area has been increasing with an application focus on the company. Nevertheless, studies on educational organizations are still limited. Because of this, there appears to be a real need of an analytical review of the recent developments in the relational capital domain focused on educational organizations. In this paper, a systematic review of literature on the teacher as fundamental component of the relational capital of the educational institutions is presented; and at the same time the relevance of this capital in its own management. Besides, a description of the approaches and the importance for the educational management is carried out. This description is framed in a worldwide context of changes and new challenges for the education, where the teacher management as generator of relational learning, social transformer, and students interactive channel is emphasized, providing a significant contribution to the construction of the educational relationships and reputation. In addition, several research future directions in this field are emphasized and described.
