Tools to quantify livestock production systems in Pastaza province of the Ecuadorian Amazon

Abstract:

Reported increases in efficiency varied between 22 and 40% compared with control farms. The success of these systems was related to on the introduction of innovations in health and reproductive processes, feeding and traceability; and demonstrates the feasibility of maintaining sustainable livestock production in the Amazon, if the program of livestock management suggested in this study is adopted.
