Total, organic and inorganic phosphorus in Ultisols, Alfisols and Oxisols in south Misiones (Argentina)

Abstract:

With the objective of evaluating total phosphorus (PT), organic phosphorus (PO) and total inorganic phosphorus (PI) content in function of the taxonomic order, seven soils of udic regimen were selected for each of the following orders; Ultisols, Alfisols an Oxisols. Surface samples were taken and PT, PO and PI were determined by Bowman extractive method. PT content varied from 384 mg kg-1 in Alfisols to 583 mg kg-1 in Ultisols. No significative differences were found between Ultisols and Oxisols. Differences were found for PI among the three orders, but not in PO content. PI and PO values were 282 and 102 mg kg-1 for Alfisols, 382 and 140 mg kg-1 for Oxisols and 478 and 106 mg kg-1 for Ultisols. PT and PO content are related to meteorization degree and taxonomic order in udic regimen.
