Towards a bluetooth indoor positioning system with android consumer devices

Abstract:

This document discusses the elaboration of an experimental prototype of an Android Indoor Positioning System using the Received Signal Strength Indication of emitting devices for establishing the accuracy of the calculated position with respect to a real position. To achieve the stated objective, the research was divided into two phases. The first, experimental, determines the technical capabilities of Bluetooth devices and the relationship between signal intensity and distance. The second phase determines the best method of positioning and elaborates an application prototype.
