Toxic effect of some herbicides on larvae of Mocis latipes Guénée.

Abstract:

Tests in Cuba with 4 herbicides frequently used in sugarcane areas showed that Gesapax-80 [ametryn] caused an average of 75% mortality of larvae of the noctuid Mocis latipes. Pot tests confirmed that this herbicide was very toxic to the pest; mortality ranged from 98% for 1st-instar larvae to 52% for 6th-instar larvae. The toxicity to M. latipes of ametryn was not diminished when it was used in combination with Azulox-40 [asulam].
