Abstract:

An experimental study was carried out to assess potential toxic effect of fluid extract in 65% hydroalcoholic solution of Xanthium strumarium L. In this study authors used Acute Toxicity Classes Method (ATC) from preestablished dose of 25.200 and 200 mg/kg of body weight. Animals used were Wistar rats, with a body weight between 150 and 200 g. Results confirmed and supported safety of the plant because of there weren't clinical signs evidencing toxicity and deaths with a dose of 2 000 mg/kg; which is limit dose, according to standard used.
