Training by competences: Challenge of higher education


Abstract:

Competence-based education is a teaching and learning process that is oriented to people with the purpose of acquiring skills, knowledge and attitudes for an ideal performance. The aim of this article is to analyze competency-based training based on the existing theory in order to characterize the factors that make it possible to guarantee people an adequate performance in the framework of their professional training; the approach of the competences raises the need to recognize the current requirements of transferring the skills and knowledge of the new situations existing in the professional field from the learning allowing to go beyond the education and go to the professionalization through an ideal performance in labor activities. As a methodology, the one proposed by Samaja (2016) based on the method of understanding (explanation) of theory and episteme that revolves around the subject under study was considered. It is concluded that the factors inherent in the training process by competence (being-know and do) leads to the success of educational institutions in addition to establishing multiple dimensions in the field of human training highlighting the ideal performance in the context of the work context.
