Trans-12-oxo-10,15 (Z)-phytodienoic acid, a constituent from Chromolaena meridensis

Abstract:

From aerial parts of Chromolaena meridensis (B.L. Robin.) K.& R., has been isolated trans-12-oxo-10,15(Z)-phytodienoic acid, which was characterized on the basis of detailed spectroscopy studies. The chemical correlation of this acid with a synthetic methyl ester, obtained for enzymatic incubation of linolenic acid with a flaxseed extract, allowed the establishment of its stereochemistry at every quiral center.
