Transformer transient analysis under high frequencies: Comparison with and without capacitor
Abstract:
Thunderstorms may cause permanent failures in distribution feeders (DF), which represent the main cause of DF outages. Such a phenomenon presents diverse parameters to be taken into account, such as wave form, lightning intensity. The distribution transformers (DT) are being constantly affected, which cause to generate overvoltage on the secondary side affecting to customers. Therefore, transformer patterns with different settings of resisting, inductive and capacitive components have to be studied. In this paper, in order to counteract effects that causes lightning in DFs, a comparative analysis of the transformer model is being displayed, which has to undergo under high frequencies, which build in a setting of capacitors in the transformer side of low and high surgery, is presented. The analysis is carried out by means of two scenarios. The first considers the surgery measures in the secondary side by using capacitors, and the second without considering these elements to obtain the surgery answer. Results show that the surgery values obtained in the secondary side differ significantly depending on the use or not of the capacitors in the transformer model.
