Transforming teaching practices by empowering students with self-regulated learning strategies


Abstract:

The article shows the results of a study supported by the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT) {National Council of Science and Technology}, which investigated the functioning of education programs at a distance that are offered at twenty five higher education Mexican institutions and the results that they are having on Graduate Degrees in Education offered in this educational method. The methodology was used in multiple cases, exploratory and descriptive, which included a visit to the institutions, an analysis of official documents, structured interviews of program coordinators, professors, students, graduates, support personnel of the education at a distance program (computer experts, producers, instructional designers, and graphic designers). The results of the study show data on the e-learning processes in educational programs, strategies for the utilization of resources, and key aspects of the distance education teaching-learning process.
