Treatment of Gender Violence in Digital Newspapers of the Andean Region
Abstract:
The United Nations Organization defines Gender-based violence as any act of violence as any act directed to or applied to what belongs to the female sex sphere that may result in physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering for women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether they occur in public or private life. During the last decades gender violence against women has marked the political, legislative and social agenda of the countries of the world; Latin America in a special way is one of the most affected by this phenomenon, which is considered a public health problem for the states. Without a doubt, feminicide is the most atrocious manifestation of this violence. Through this research work we try to analyze the phenomenon of gender violence specifically the occurrence of crimes of feminicide through the review of news as published in social media in the periods between March 2018 of some digital newspapers of countries of the Andean Region: Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia, accounting for the interactions they have with users.
