Treatment of orbital and lid hemangiomas in childhood

Abstract:

During the last 3 years we have studied 16 capillary hemangiomas of the lid and orbit in children. We treated 12 of them: 7 caused amblyopia, 2 produced strabism, and 3 for cosmetic reasons. We performed embolization in 6 cases, with poor results in 3 of them. The 9 cases in which we applied intralesional corticosteroid therapy were satisfactory. We recommend this procedure alone or in union with embolization.
