Turismo agroecológico: alternativa de desarrollo turístico sostenible en la zona rural de la provincia del Guayas
Abstract:
The following article has a theoretical nature, and its main purpose is to present an analysis of agroecological tourism from the sustainability perspective. It also serves as a development tool in rural areas of the Guayas province, and it seeks to improve the quality of life in local communities. An increasing number of projects, the creation of new touristic activities and the incorporation of foreign countries’ experiences will become the mainstay for successful rural local development programs. All this without putting aside the fundamental equilibrium that touristic planning represents in the form of alliances between tour operators, local communities and both private and public investments. Mixed methods research was used in this investigation, and three of its techniques were employed for data collection: observation, bibliographic and field review. Incorporation of new technology, adequate regulations for the proper usage of natural resources, appropriate management of economic growth, development of feasible entrepreneurship, generation of additional income, and the inclusion of complementary activities are the expected results from the fusion between agronomy and tourism. However, this coupling must be associated with territorial decentralization in order to effectively contribute to poverty reduction.
