U-Pb and Pb-Pb single zircon ages for charno-enderbites from the Magondi mobile belt, northwest Zimbabwe
Abstract:
The Magondi mobile belt in northwest Zimbabwe is dominated by a supracrustal sequence composed of metasedimentary and minor tholeiitic volcanic rocks, tuffs, and agglomerates. The grade of metamorphism increases northwards from greenschist to upper amphibolite facies with patchy development of granulites. Single zircon 207Pb/206Pb and conventional U-Pb ages constrain the emplacement of the charno-enderbites to 1930-1960 Ma. The age is also taken to reflect the time of granulite metamorphism within the Magondi mobile belt. The results further constrain the minimum age of the gneisses into which the charno-enderbites were emplaced. -from Authors
