USE OF EARTHWORM HUMUS AND WATER JACINTO ON CUCUMBER GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT (Cucumis sativus, L)

Abstract:

Organic fertilizers provide organic matter, nutrients and microorganisms, which favors soil fertility and plant nutrition. The objective of the work was to determine the effect of earthworm humus and water hyacinth on the growth and development of cucumber plants, in a completely random design with four replications, which were subjected to the application of earthworm humus fertilizers and water hyacinth. Plant height, number of fruits, fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit weight and yield were measured. The results showed that earthworm humus plus water hyacinth increased plant height, fruit length, fruit weight parameters respect to the control treatment and the yield with significant differences was higher to that achieved without treatment (1.61 t/ha). The biostimulant effect of these biofertilizers allows a better development of cucumber crop.
