Uniform risk seismic spectra to verify structural performance in South America countries
Abstract:
This paper works an approach to find spectral forms for earthquakes levels denominated by the VISION 2000 Committee as frequent, occasional, rare and very rare for Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Argentina. With the exception of Colombia, the vigent seismic norms in 2003 in these countries establish the design spectra as the one for the very rare seism with a 10% probability of excedence over 50 years. In the Colombian Norm it has been also established the spectrum for the damage twhiglight zone with a 50% probability of being exceded in 30 years; occasional, 50% probability being exceded in 50 years; and very rare, 10% probability being exceded in 100 years. At this manner it is being apported to the development of the performance based seismic design in South America.
