University management and management of research in the university: Conceptual approaches

Abstract:

In order to face sustainable development in knowledge society, it is increasingly necessary to perfect research as a generator of knowledge and technology; in this, universities have a crucial role, which requires improving the management of them. This article aims to describe different criteria and assessments about university management and in particular the management of the investigative functions in these institutions to substantiate their significance and needs at present. Starting from the method of documentary analysis and the analytical-synthetic one, the diverse edges and themes in discussion around university management and the management of research in them are shown, concluding that the growing relevance of higher education and scientific research, generated there as an indispensable ingbkp_redient for the promotion and reach of sustainable development, aims and demands attention and improvement to the management of this inalienable substantive function of higher education institutions, in the face of the complexities and challenges of today’s society.
