University student welfare in Ecuador: Case of student welfare units in the universities of the province of El Oro

Abstract:

Higher education in Ecuador has undergone profound changes since the creation of the new Constitution of Ecuador in 2008; These changes have allowed the Ecuadorian university to enhance its own elements such as management, linkage, teaching and research. To these already existent has been added a fifth key element the student well-being that allows to demonstrate the genuine interest of the academy to the students. The present research is carried out in the province of Oro, its main objective being to determine the importance and impact of student welfare in institutions of higher education.
