Unwanted pregnancy and its associated factors in university students
Abstract:
In order to evaluate the occurrence of unwanted pregnancies and their associated factors in students of the Regional Autonomous University of the Andes a cross-sectional and analytical investigation is carried out, which includes bivariate analysis and logistic regression, from which a profile is determined for students at risk of unwanted pregnancy, consisting of age between 18-20 years (OR =. 574; IC95% 0.50-4.99), which have initiated sexual activity at ages between 13-15 years (OR = 5.15; IC95% 2.12-8.16), have regular level of knowledge on the subject of sexual and reproductive health (OR = 1.74; IC95%; 1.31-6.31), and are single (OR = 18.3; IC95% 14.4-21.6). This study presents results that contribute to examine the extent of a complex problem such as unwanted pregnancy for the university student, due to its serious health, psychosocial and academic implications.
