Urban morphology and solar access: Densification study Loja's historic downtown (Ecuador)

Abstract:

This article analyzes the compacity, morphology and the solar access in Loja to estimate the solar potential available on the exterior facades of a consolidated block located on the historic downtown. Three sceneries of densification were proposed, resulting from the different morphologies in which the building height was modify to reach a 150% increase on the building densification (FAR), it was found that depending on the shape, the decrease on the solar potential varies between 16 and 28%.
