Urban planning for the sustainable development of social interest housing

Abstract:

This document seeks to analyze the historical incidence of social in-terest housing programs in the city of Cuenca, detect their shortcomings and their influence on the urban development process, as well as collect information that allows the conception and objective realization of future housing programs. housing that determining the potential intervention sites in the city that make possible an orderly growth, but focused on the most vulnerable population. In the preparation of this work, a descriptive qualitative research was carried out on social interest housing policies through history up to the present day, taking ethnography as a basis, since the qualities and char-acteristics of a current situation were studied, using analysis of projects, describing this situation based on the knowledge of processes and prac-tices, seeking that its goal is not limited to the collection of information, but to the generation of change proposals. The research allows to obtain alternative results to the housing pro-grams according to their composition and the needs of the people, determining the optimal places for their implantation, as a rational model of sectional development. It is possible to achieve a better future for the most vulnerable population if the social interest housing programs are more humane and are based on contemporary organizational models for intermediate cities such as the city of Cuenca.
