Usability evaluation mechanism with standard ISO/IEC 9126. Case study: Tourism portals

Abstract:

The present research work proposes a mechanism for evaluating the usability of tourism portals, taking as reference the ISO/IEC 9126 quality model. The evaluation mechanism considers external attributes that a tourism portal associated with each selected metric should have. To evaluate each metric, techniques such as observation guide, satisfaction questionnaire and attractive interface questionnaire were used. The evaluation mechanism was used to evaluate the most representative portals of the countries with the highest number of visits per year according to OMT. This allowed us to identify the most appropriate form of compliance with usability criteria that should be taken into account in the design and implementation of a tourism portal.
