Use of Mobile Applications in Alternative Treatment for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder in Women Victims of Aggression

Abstract:

Today mobile devices, particularly smartphones, have become almost essential artifacts in different areas, due to the ease of operation and the feasibility of leveraging their resources in both physical, medical and psychological treatments. Because of all these options, the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorders can be applied in treating women who have been victims of aggression, through the technique of inoculation of stress. By using the mobile device, patients can be in constant management of the application. The application then provides information and treatment, to cope with a trauma that has been caused by a negative event. A very common symptom is nightmares; concurrent memories that affect daily life. However, various causes prevent them from being treated. Aggression brings with it a series of disastrous consequences, one of which is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). PTSD consists of two distinct aspects; stress response and trauma. For treatment, two equally effective procedures are used. Firstly, by drugs and secondly through a cognitive behavioral approach, which takes as reference the mobile application. This second approach allows the practice of various techniques accessing self-control, relaxation and arrest of negative thoughts; providing a path to patient health.
