Use of Solar Renewable Energy for a Binaural Noise Monitoring System in Bogotá, Colombia


Abstract:

The XXI century has seen the necessity of using renewable forms of energy instead of the classical ones, and this fact, due to numerous factors. On the other hand, noise monitoring has become a key element in every society because it directly involves wellbeing of human society and health. In this project, a binaural noise monitoring system is designed to be powered by a solar panel. Motivation for binaural capture is the necessity to give metrics which are beyond a measured value. The complete design of the system is depicted, focusing the discussion merely on the energy consumption of the system. Implications due to solar capacity of the region are also discussed. It is shown that for the purposes of this project, a solar panel with the analyzed characteristics is sufficient.
