Use of feldspathic ceramic laminated veneers applying the layering technique in the dental organ
Abstract:
The veneers laminated with feldspathic ceramics are of great importance since they return to the patient the aesthetic aspect in terms of shape, size and color with a high degree of similarity to a normal tooth. The objective of this literature review is the study of the use of veneers with feldspathic ceramics applying the layering technique in the dental organ. With the passage of time, the composition of these porcelains was modified until arriving at the present feldspathic ceramics, which consist of a magma of feldspar in which particles of quartz and, to a much smaller extent, kaolin are dispersed. The feldspar, when decomposing into glass, is the substance responsible for the translucency of the porcelain. Quartz constitutes the crystalline phase. Kaolin, on the other hand, confers plasticity and facilitates the handling of the ceramics when it is not yet fired. Pigments are added to obtain different shades. As they are basically glasses, they have excellent optical properties, achieving high aesthetic results, with the limitation of being fragile and, therefore, they cannot be used in fixed prosthesis if they are not supported on a structure. For this reason, these porcelains are mainly recommended for the covering of metallic or ceramic structures.
