Use of intestinal acidifiers in the production of broiler chickens

Abstract:

The development of the poultry industry tightens the use of the different raw materials used in food. The objectives of the present work were to evaluate the effect of acidifiers on productive, economic indicators and the presence of Escherichia coli in broiler chickens. The experiment was carried out in the province of Pichincha, Ecuador, with a duration of 49 days, with two stages, the initial (0 to 21 days) and the final (22 to 49). A total of 160 birds from the Ross Fortachón line were used in four treatments: T1 or control without acidifiers, T2 using gustor XXI, T3 (Myco curb dry) and T4 (Mycokap), in a completely randomized design with five replicates. The variables initial weight (PI) and final (FP), total gain, consumption, feed conversion and net benefit (BN) were evaluated. A simple classification variance analysis (ANOVA) was performed. Tukey's test was used to compare the means. Bartlett's tests were used to verify the homogeneity of the variances and to determine the normal distribution of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov data using the SPSS ver. 21.0 for Windows. The results reflected significant differences between treatments for the variables studied with the best values for the second and third. Something similar happened when determining the economic rubles. It was concluded that the use of acidifiers improved the productive indicators and decreased the presence of pathogenic bacteria such as E. coli.
