Use of roasted soybeans (Glycine max) in broiler feed
Abstract:
One of the most used foods in birds is soy. For this reason, the objectives of this work are to evaluate the productive and economic indicators when using in the broiler ration different percentages of inclusion of this plant. The experiment was carried out in the Cevallos Canton, province of Tungurahua, Ecuador, with a duration of 56 days. We used 500 Ross 308 animals of one day of age, with average weights of 45.82 grams; the effect of diets with different inclusion levels of the roasted vegetable (zero, four, eight and twelve) was evaluated. A completely random design was used with four treatments and five repetitions each of 25 copies. A simple classification variance analysis and a multiple means comparison were performed. To verify the normal distribution of the data, the Kolmogorov - Smirnov test was used and for the homogeneity of the variances the Bartlett test was used. The Statistic Ver. 10 system for Windows was used. The initial (PI) and final (PF), conversion, gain (GP), yield to the carcass, as well as mortality variables were evaluated. The economic indicators were the price of the starting chickens, the food, basic services and veterinary inputs, expressed in dollars. There were no significant differences for the PI and for the other aspects evaluated. The best values are appreciated for the greater percentages of inclusion of the legume. It was concluded that the productive indicators were not affected with the inclusion of roasted soy in the ration and when using this food the costs of the ration are reduced.
