Usefulness of the rome iv questionnaires in spanish to identify functional gastrointestinal disorders in pediatrics. Working group of the latin american society of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition (LASPGHAN)
Abstract:
In 2016, the Rome IV Criteria in English were updated to identify Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders (FGID) in children less than 4 years of age and school and adolescents. The prevalence of these FGID in the United States and Colombia according to the Rome IV Criteria is 24.7%-25.0% and 21.2%, respectively. As FGID continue to be the main cause of consultation in pediatric gastroenterology, it is important to study them, and thus better define the epidemiology, symptoms, comorbidity and quality of life related to the health of these children. For its diagnosis, the Questionnaire Pediatric Gastrointestinal Symptoms Rome IV in Spanish is required. The objective of this manuscript is to describe the experience of the Functional International Digestive Epidemiology Research Survey FINDERS of the Latin American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (LASPGHAN) in the process of validation and reproducibility of these Rome IV Questionnaires in Spanish to serve as a basis for its implementation in other Span-ish-speaking countries.
