Uso de la tintura de propóleo al 0,12% como cicatrizante en un paciente con enfermedad periodontal y agrandamiento gingival.

Abstract:

Poor oral hygene can induce periodontal diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis, and mucogingival deformities as gingival overgrowth. To remedy these defects, it is needed to perform invasive procedures that can cause dissatisfaction to the patient. The aim of this case report executed at the “Clínica de Especialidades Odontológicas Universidad Internacional del Ecuador” is to restore the oral health and beauty of the patient, adding to it the use of 0,12% ethanolic extract of propolis, to provide the patient a much satisfactory postoperative period. At the same time, a comparison between propolis and zinc oxide-eugenol periodontal dressing was held. The ethanolic extract of propolis proved to be an excellent hemostatic, anodyne, anti-inflammatory and healer, besides of being a more comfortable and esthetic option for the patient.
